John began his career in public accounting in 1979 at the Los Angeles office of Arthur Andersen & Co., rising to the level of Senior Tax Manager. There he applied his specialized tax background to assist clients with tax planning and compliance in the real estate, construction, entertainment, and manufacturing industries. Because of his expertise, he was asked to join the Mergers/Acquisitions and Partnership Return Tax Specialty Teams. Prior to transferring to the Tax Department in 1981, John was chosen as one of 12 individuals nationwide to help pilot the Arthur Andersen Computer Audit Specialty Team.

At BCWS, John heads up the Tax Department, and oversees the Estate and Trust practice, which encompasses overall planning, wealth transfer and all tax reporting requirements. John focuses on addressing the unique and interrelated complex tax needs of growing small businesses and their owners. In addition, he works extensively with clients to resolve their disputes and tax controversies with the Internal Revenue Service and the California Franchise Tax Board. John has been a frequent speaker to civic and public groups on all areas of taxation and tax planning.
